Law and Order...Arrives on the PC

Boot Camp feature for Friday, September 27, 2002

The computer isn't always the enemy of TV. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Plenty has been written about how lots of people are watching less TV these days because of the Internet and video games. But PCs aren't always the enemy of the TV networks. NBC's Law and Order series... .has just been turned into a computer game... . (sound)

"We acquired the rights to this computer game and what we wanted to do was create a very faithful game based on the TV show."

Game producer Craig Brannon. The game puts you on the Law and Order team... solving a mystery on Wall Street... .when a witness in an IPO fraud case turns up dead. If and when you catch a suspect... .you then work with the DA on the case... .

"We have three actors from the show do their voices and have their likenesses in the game. And they are Jerry Orbach who plays Lenny Briscoe and Epatha Merkerson who plays Lt. Van Buren and Elisabeth Rohm who plays Serena Southerland."

There have been TV shows translated to computer and video games before... .lots of Star Trek titles and game shows... .but not many of the top dramas have made the leap. Legacy Interactive hopes it will pay off...

"We hope the fans really enjoy it... as well as people who aren't really hard core fans but just like an interesting mystery."

Law and Order the game... sells for about thirty dollars. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
