Expedia Streets and Trips 2000

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, April 1, 1999

Software to help you plan your trips and get where you're going. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bootcamp, a report on computers and technology. Microsoft has upped the ante and lowered the price on software that can get you where ever you want to go. Expedia Streets and Trips 2000 is a great bundle at a low price. Product manager Rob McIntosh...

"Well, it can find virtually any address. It can give you detailed, door to door directions to virtually any address in the U.S. and it's got a comprehensive travel guide for all of North America. So it includes things like Zagat surveys for restaurant reviews. There's over fourteen thousand of those. Twenty five thousand hotels, most of them bookable online through Expedia travel services. Six hundred thousand points of interest. We've included three hundred thousand listing from ABI, which is yellow page listings."

One thing missing that you will find in some competing products is the ability to use a portable GPS system. But the software will print out turn by turn directions..

"It's giving you in bite sized chunks, turn by turn information on exactly where it is that you need to go."

And finding a restuarant or hotel nearby is just a click away. There are also links, as you would expect to Microsoft's popular Expedia web site. What's really a killer here is the pricing. With a rebate, we've seen the all new Expedia Streets and Trips 2000 selling for under twenty five dollars.
