Batter Up! MLB 2000

Boot Camp feature for Friday, April 9, 1999

Batter up. It's video game baseball season again. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bootcamp, a report on computers and technology. If you love baseball and are one of the millions of Sony PlayStation owners, 989 Sports is out with MLB 2000...

"It is the most technically advanced baseball game ever made for the PlayStation. We have over 200 personalized batting stances and pitching motions and each player is scaled to their actual weight, height and body style including facial features."

989's Allan Frankel. Vin Scully delivers the play by play (sound) with color commentary from Dave Campbell. You can play a game or launch your own virtual season...

"You can play a season, a whole 162 game season, track stats, and there's also a farm system in there that will be kind of an instruction from Dave Campbell who will give you a scouting report on your team and also a scouting report on your farm system telling you who is hot, who is up and coming and might even recommend calling up this young, hot prospect.

There's attention to detail right down to the crowd sound... (sound) The advanced levels can be pretty tough, but your kids can help you learn.
