Ink & Money Saving Printer From Canon

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, April 21, 1999

More printer innovations from Canon. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bootcamp, a report on computers and technology. There are lots of great color printers on the market these days from companies like Epson, Hewlett Packard, Lexmark and Canon. Canon has captured about a 25 percent market share by giving people good quality at a fair price. VP Peter Bergman...

"Well the amazing thing is the value that a consumer can get today in an entry level printer. For instance for as little as 89 dollars you can get a printer that does absolutely fantastic photo quality color and then stepping up the line you can buy even a higher speed printers, multi-function units that print, copy, scan and fax and a whole range of other devices that are both fun and make you very productive in either a home or business setting."

The latest is the BJC 6000...

It uses very, very advanced ink and printhead technology which results in tremendous speed, fantastic print quality, in fact it's so good, you'd swear you were looking at a photograph. And one of the key features... our individual ink tank system that we've nicknamed the Canon thinktank system. It actually allows you to just replace the ink color that you have used rather than throw away an entire cartridge."

The four individual color cartidges are priced at about 12 dollars each, far less than what single multi-color cartridges cost. The BJC 6000 should sell for under 250 dollars.
