An inexpensive color PDA from PalmOne. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. PalmOne is introducing two new models to its Zire line up of consumer PDAs. The 149 dollar Zire 31…includes a color screen….16 megabytes of memory…MP3 playback and an SDIO expansion slot. Marketing VP Page Murray says there are improvements to the software as well…

"You get enhanced functionality that allows you to do things like put an image behind your home screen or your daily to-dos. It allows you to put pictures next to their contacts. It has an MP3 player with a stereo headphone jack. It also has much greater memory…eight times the memory of the original Zire product and an expansion slot that allows you to put in SD cards to back up all of your information or allow you to use additional peripherals."

Another new model is the Zire 72…equipped with a 1.2 megapixel camera…resolution that good enough for small snap shot prints….and it can shoot video as well..

"We've also added in Bluetooth, which gives you the ability to take these images and connect to your Bluetooth mobile phone, shoot the images out in email. Also do MMS or SMS text messaging."

The device, which replaces PalmOne's previous camera model, the Zire 71…has a suggested price of 299 dollars. The company is hoping to convince owners of previous Palm devices…to upgrade Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
