Digital data…as a work of art. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Who says the flow of information has to be boring. Ambient Devices…a company created by former students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology…is building gadgets such as orbs and cubes that change color to reflect the weather forecast, the stock market, traffic congestion or the fortunes of your favorite baseball team. The data is received wirelessly. CEO David Rose says the latest gadget is the Ambient Dashboard…

"It has three hands that change angle like needles on your car and the faces that it comes with are swappable. I have one here that says the Dow Jones. And it's got a little percent up, percent down scale. We have cards for the likelihood that President George Bush will be re-elected, or traffic on my commute. So there are really dozens of channels that are available."

More devices are on the way. They work similar to the way watches using Microsoft's Smart technology work. Other gadgets that double as works of art are the new Oregon Scientific time and weather stations designed by Philippe Starck. Oregon Scientific President Alain Li…says Starck has used the LCD displays as part of the design…and…

"Traditional alarm sounds are actually a bit of a rude awakening. So this product incorporates seven different piano sounds to wake up with."
