Another Organizer for Digital Pics

Boot Camp feature for Monday, May 24, 2004

Another new package to organize those digital pictures. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. If you've been taking lots and lots of pictures with that digital camera….chances are you've got those images scattered in folders all over your hard drive. Adobe and Microsoft have been making the top software tools for organizing those photos….with their Photoshop Album and Digital Image Library products. Now Jasc software has a serious challenger….in Paint Shop Photo Album 5. Jasc CEO Kris Tufto says first of all…

"There's three different ways to organize your photos and you can organize them by calendar, you can organize them by file folders and you can organize them by keywords."

The package offers 17 ways to share photos…from the creation of bound coffee table books…to sending them to cell phones. The software also wisely places a big emphasis on safety….protecting the digital images of users…

"It's a way to get your images off the computer so that they're safe. It's a system that keeps reminding you that you should really do this. And it helps you quickly burn images to your CD."

The focus of the package is on organizing and sharing pictures…not on editing. A beta version of the software has been available for free downloading at Jasc.com. The final version will sell under fifty dollars. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
