A New Venture From the Founder of Monster.com

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, August 8, 2006

A new Web venture, for a founder of Monster.com. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. He was the creator of the most used Web site for help wanted ads and job seekers. It's been about a year since Jeff Taylor announced his retirement from Monster. Now he's off and running with a new site….Eons.com….

"Eons is a fifty plus media company. And our challenge is to inspire a generation of boomers and seniors to live the biggest life possible.. to capture the voice of inspiration of this generation. Ultimately to create a spirited community challenging this generation to live to be one hundred or die trying."

For starters…the site offers a longevity calculator…to see what your chances are of making it to the century mark. Eons has sections labeled Fun, Love, Money, Body, Goals, Obits and LifeMap…

"I love the idea of people focusing in on their dreams and adventures. And to see if I can capture the energy that's associated with what I call this new generation as they move into the time of their lives where they move away from the to do list and they move into the want to do list."

The younger generation has MySpace.com…Taylor hopes the over fifty set will turn to Eons. He has competition. ThirdAge.com has focused on that demographic for years. Ironically….Taylor himself is a little two young…about five years shy….of the age requirement for Eons membership. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
