The Next Creative Suite From Adobe

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, February 1, 2007

The next Creative Suite from Adobe. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. The indications from Adobe…are that Creative Suite 3 may arrive before the end of March. And President and Chief Operating Officer Shantanu Narayen says tens of thousands of people have downloaded a free beta version of the new Photoshop that will be part of the suite…..

"Overall the excitement around Creative Suite has been palpable. People recognize that this is the first release after the integration with Macromedia. And for folks on the Macintosh platform, it will be the first version of Creative Suite that supports the new Intel architecture. The reason for us introducing the Photoshop beta was to really have our customers test it out and help us with the process of moving to the Intel architecture."

But the news may not be so good for non-professionals on the Mac side. Adobe released Photoshop Elements 5 for Windows last year. About plans for a Mac upgrade…Narayen tells us…

"As you know, Apple does deliver with the Macintosh some innovative products. Both iMovie and iPhoto. And so our focus will continue to be on providing across platforms, but clearly Windows are where the majority of our sales are right now." You don't have plans then to release that product on the Mac platform? "We continue to look at it. We have been releasing products traditionally for the hobbyist a little bit behind on the Mac platform and we will continue to pay attention to our customers."
