Convincing Consumers to Buy Higher End Cables

Boot Camp feature for Friday, July 13, 2007

Convincing consumers to buy higher end cables. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Big flat screen TVs are everywhere….and to go along with them…lots of consumers are buying home theatre sound systems. And that has created opportunity for Monster Cable….where founder and chief monster Noel Lee says….

"We are anticipating an explosion in HDMI connectivity."

HDMI cables can carry high definition video and sound in a single cable. If you shop around…you'll find some big price differences. Monster makes a variety…at different price points. But Lee says there are good reasons to spend more for the best quality you can afford…

"There's popular misconceptions out there that all HDMI cables are the same and that it's all digital, it's ones and zeros and if it gets there it gets there, but the opposite is actually true. There's a parallel to that in the networking world where you had Cat 3, Cat 5, Cat 6 cables. The cables that carry more data were followed with equipment, routers and things that deliver more data to your networking. Well that's what's happening here in the consumer electronics field."

Lee argues buying higher end HDMI cables that are capable of carrying more data….will protect your investment as new and better high definition video technologies arrive. When purchasing Monster or another brand…you can often save money by shopping online…rather than buying in retail stores where you've purchased that big TV. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
