Your Life Goals...on the Web

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, August 7, 2007

A couple of friends, a couple of bikes…and a Web site. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. They were room mates at Wake Forest University…graduating five years ago. Now Lee Briggs and Brent Thomas are in business together…having created a different kind of social networking Web site, eLifelist.com….

"It allows its members to come on and create what's called your life list, which is basically the list that everyone has in their life of things they want to complete, goals they want to complete, whether it's professional, personal. So members can come on and create this list and post pictures and videos and communicate with other members. That's basically the gist of it, but there are a lot of other really cool features that we have that people can use on it."

The growth has been by word of mouth so far. Briggs says he and Thomas had on their list….riding a bike across the country. And they're in the middle of accomplishing that goal this summer. The goals people post are pretty varied….

"Some of the most common tend to deal with get a new job or adventurous sort of things. A lot of them deal with travel. You know, go to Australia. Travel's definitely one of the biggest ones we have on there."

Other life goals can be as simple as…knit a sweater…or clean up the garage. Elifelist.com is free. One of the goals of the founders is to make money through advertising …that they promise will be unobtrusive. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
