A Camcorder That Can Help Your Golf Game

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, May 7, 2008

A camcorder that can help your golf game. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today’s technology. It’s the latest high definition camcorder from Samsung….with a compact design….using 8 gigabytes of built in flash memory and the ability to use high capacity SD cards for expansion. But one of the big selling points of the HMX 20 is its ability to shoot at 300 frames per second for ten seconds. Product manager Darryl Cole…says it’s been dubbed the golf swing mode…

“So you can take within a span of ten seconds, three thousand frames of super slow motion.”

So you can see every detail of what you’re doing wrong. Great for sports…but that’s not all..

“The coolest application I’ve heard about is…I was approached at a trade show by a gentleman who had interest in approaching military units who would be interested for the purpose of watching parachutes opening properly. So I think that was the coolest application for it.”

The HMX 20 arrives this month at a list price of about 900 dollars. In the meantime…Samsung executive vice president Tim Baxter says despite the economic downturn…the consumer electronics market will continue to grow through the rest of the year…

”Clearly, the consumers are still in a buying mood…but they’re more selective in that.”

Manufacturers like Samsung are hoping the Olympic games in Beijing….will increase demand for big screen, high def TVs. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I’m Fred Fishkin.
