Video Game Monkeys Around With Politics

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, June 11, 2008

A video game that monkeys around with politics. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Hail to the Chimp is the title of a new video game arriving for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 later this month. It comes from Wideload Games where founder and CEO Alex Seropian says....games with a sense of humor...are unique in the industry. Hail to the Chimp gives new meaning to party politics...

"We call it the presidential party game. The idea behind it is, it's a social game that you and your family and friends can get together and play...together on the couch...or across distance online. And the premise is that the kind of the animals, the lion, has been dethroned and the animal kingdom has chosen to become a republic. So everybody picks their favorite animal and into one of a variety of arenas they go to compete who will become the new leader.."

While...the candidates have nothing to do with the real life presidential race... there is plenty that rings true...

"When we sat down in the beginning and started researching how politics is portrayed in the media, which seems like it could be a real dry subject... it's not. It's full of opportunities to satire and make fun."

Hail to the Chimp goes on sale on June 24th for under 40 dollars. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
