Don't tell the boss, another way to waste time at work on the Web. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. It can be addictive and fun….and its on the Web. Popjax is a Web site that turns videos from YouTube and other sites into online trivia games. CEO Doug Barry…and partner Larry Taymor have backgrounds in TV game shows….and the Internet…..and with this company…Barry says…they meld the two together….

"We were watching the growth of casual games, which is big now, but we didn't think anything had really captured the imagination of players like Trivial Pursuit of the 80s or even World of Warcraft, for some of the younger generation. And so, we bantered around a number of ideas and it dawned on us that the national obsession today was Internet video. And so we thought perhaps there's a way to create the first casual game around all of the video on the Internet. And so that was the genesis of the idea. We put together a prototype and quickly had it funded by several venture firms."

One of the unique aspects of Popjax…is that the site invites players to contribute to the games. Questions that are used….are linked to online video content…

"We've created a very interesting gaming platform that automatically links to our question database which then links to various publicly available Web video and creates a video trivia question for that category. And we have hundreds of categories that one can play in any given day."
