Different Sort of Video Social Networking... DigitalForum

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, July 24, 2008

A video sharing social network...of another sort.   Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology.      Video sharing is big on the Web.   So are social networks.  And while Microsoft has not been a leader in either space, it is trying to carve out a niche in those arenas by creating an online destination for the thousands of businesses big and small that are designated as "partners".    Marie Huwe,  general manager of the worldwide partner group at Microsoft....says it is called DigitalForum...

"DigitalForumTV.com.   And we make it really easy for them.  They just need to shoot a video with any personal camera that they've got and there's a really simple to use editing tools up there.  And they can talk about how they have a great solution for business intelligence or customer relationship management or whatever business they're in.  And quickly edit their video and post to the site.  And anyone can come and watch it, talk about it blog about it, rate it.  And then it can be shared virally very easily through other sites like Facebook or whatnot.  In fact, this is really a YouTube or a soapbox for our partner community."

One video posted makes a pitch...with a take off on the hit TV show The Office.    Microsoft says it's a way that the little guys...can compete ...with the big guys...to reach potential customers.   Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
