Digital Camera Innovation From Nikon

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, September 3, 2008

Digital camera innovation from Nikon. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Nikon may the first name that comes to mind when it comes to quality in the world of photography. For everyday consumers, the company is out with half a dozen new CoolPix cameras. Among them...the S60, a 10 megapixel pocket sized model with a 5X optical zoom. But beyond that, Nikon senior technical manager Lindsay Silverman says...

"What's really, really snappy about this camera, it is an entire touch screen controller CoolPix camera. So everything is done by touching the camera. So if I wanted to focus the camera, I can just touch where I wanted to focus and the focus activates over here."

Just touch the part of the screen you want the camera to focus on. For photo-enthusiasts, Nikon is out with the D-90, the first digital SLR that is also capable of shooting video.....

"So you can shoot movies, high definition movies, 24 frames per second, 1280 by 720 progressive scan resolution, at any time you want on this camera, with every single AF Nikkor lens that you choose. And one of the really tremendous advantages of this is that you've got a really big sensor, You can put lenses on with very wide maximum apertures so your subject's in focus and the background will be way out of focus."

The D90 for the body alone is 995 dollars. With a lens kit, about 13 hundred. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
