HD Camcorder at a Bargain Price

Boot Camp feature for Monday, September 22, 2008

An HD camcorder at a bargain price. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Some of the latest cameras from DXG of Taiwan are boasting the capability of shooting high definition video ...and the prices are well below what you'd pay for camcorders with more well known brand names. Senior VP Paul Goldberg says among the new models is the 595V......

"It's actually a really great product. We're really proud of it. It delivers 1080p resolution, full high def resolution, at 30 frames per second. It can also be re-set at 720p at 60 frames per second for sporting events. The product features a 5X optical zoom, a 2X digital zoom, so it's got a 10X zoom capability. It also takes a 5 megapixel still shot."

And the price at retail...is under two hundred dollars. The difference between this camera....and models from the better known companies that sell for a thousand or more?

"Certainly a number of the more expensive camcorders that are out on the market have a number of other features that we don't, we don't deliver with this product, such as smile recognition or face recognition."

In the meantime, DXG is also out with 567V....that has the same upright form factor as the popular Flip Video cameras. It adds 720P high definition capability... and is priced at 179 dollars. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
