Pure Digital Flips to High Definition

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Pure Digital flips to high definition. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Pure Digital is the maker of the Flip Video line of miniature camcorders that have won popularity because of their ease of use and low price. Plug the camera in to the USB port on a PC or Mac...and up comes your video ready to play, email or upload to YouTube. More than a million have been sold. Now...facing more competition...from Kodak and others...Pure Digital is out with the Flip Mino HD. Marketing Director Scott Kabat ...

"This is an HD version of the Flip Video Mino, which we believe is the smallest camcorder in the world. It weighs three ounces. It's the same design as the current Flip Mino which we launched this summer. Four gigabytes of memory records sixty minutes of video on that internal memory and provides high quality HD at a very affordable price. The camcorder retails for 229, which is considerably more affordable than a lot of the HD camcorders you'll find out there. We offer the ability to personalize the camcorder with any design you choose."

When it comes to simplicity, Flip Video is hard to beat. But with digital still cameras that include video capability falling in price...including some models that also shoot in HD quality....more consumers may aim to shop around. More on the competition in upcoming reports. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
