Expanding Your Vocabulary With an iPhone

Boot Camp feature for Friday, June 12, 2009

Expanding your vocabulary...with an iPhone. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology Boot Camp, a report on gadgets and gear. Mobile phones have been taking the blame for the language of texting ...which so many young people know better than say...English. But parents can take heart. The Princeton Review is now selling an app for the iPhone and iPod Touch, that can help high school students with the vocabulary portion of the SATs. It is called The SAT Vocabulary Challenge. Senior VP Rob Franek....

"We have different sections that the students can have an antonym, synonym, definition game. Then we have connotation games which focus in on positive and negative things. And I think the loveliest part about the app itself is that it drills in many of the same core strategies that we talk about in our classroom courses. Process of elimination, accuracy."

And speed. The price...about five dollars. The Princeton Review is working on an app for the math side of the equation as well. You can find us on the Web with archives and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
