Protecting That iPhone Investment... Otterbox

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Protecting that iPhone investment. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. One of the great things about the iPhone or the iPod Touch....is their sleek form factor. But that can also make them easier to drop. Otterbox...which has been in the business of designing ruggedized cases for all kinds of gadgets for more than a decade...is out with a new Defender series...that offers an extra measure of protection. The company's Kristin Golliher...

"It protects from drops, scratches, dust...those sorts of things. It's comprised of three layers of protection. So it has a protective screen cover, that you can interact with all of your iPhone functions right through the case. And it has a polycarbonate shell that actually snaps together over the iPhone and then silicone that wraps together over that. "

The trade off, of course, is that in the Defender case...while the iPhone or iPod Touch is completely usable...it doesn't maintain that sleek figure. The iPhone version sells for about 50 dollars. You can find us with archives, interviews and more...at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
