Who Wants to be a Millionaire CD ROM Game

Boot Camp feature for Monday, November 22, 1999

Now you can be a contestant on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Not on TV. On your PC. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bootcamp, a report on computers and technology. (sound) It's the CD ROM version of the TV game show that has taken the country by storm. The folks at Jellyvision, the creators of the You Don't Know Jack computer games... .and Disney Interactive have done a good job re-creating the look of the show on your PC. Game producer Allard Laban (Le-ban')...

"It basically features Regis Philbin, who we flew to Chicago to do the recording, as the host and he takes you through the game, telling you when you've got it right or wrong and uses his Regis charm to make you sweat."

(sound) How do they handle the life lines? People were surveyed on the Internet to provide the ask the audience answers, the computer tackles the fifty-fifties, and the phone a friend feature... has calls built in. Everything seems pretty real... .except, unfortunately, the prize money. It's fun with friends... .

"It starts off with the fastest finger around where you can gather your friends around the keyboard and literally try to buzz in as fast as you can when the answers are in the correct order."

The price... under twenty dollars. Our final answer is, if you like the TV show, buy it.
