Your PC Can Work Like a Tivo for Your TV

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, January 7, 2010

Your PC can work like a Tivo. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. TV tuners that work with either desktop or notebook computers have been around for years. Hauppauge Computer Works has been one of the pioneers in the business and its latest line includes models that will let you watch and record shows in high definition...or even create high def DVDs. Also just announced...at the Consumer Electronics Show, a box called the Media MVP-HD. Hauppauge CEO Ken Plotkin...it's designed to work with shows you've recorded on your PC...

"Customers have been asking us, well how do I then play it back on my TV set? Well the Media MVP series is the solution to that problem. It connects to the content that you've recorded on your PC over your home network."

There's also software that will let you connect to your TV tuner equipped PC...to watch shows and recording via an iPhone or iPod touch. You can find us...with special reports this week from CES...at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
