TVs, Smartphones, PCs... Skype Wants to be Everywhere

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Skype wants to keep you connected everywhere. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. More than one of every ten international calling minutes...takes place via a Skype connection these days. And Skype... independent once again from Ebay...is looking to continue its growth. You can use Skype from more and more mobile phones...instead of using your regular minutes. And this year....says director of product development Manrique Brenes.... you'll start to see Skype on your family room TV....on new models from LG and Panasonic...

"That means basically that people will be able to buy a TV that has Internet connectivity, hook up a camera, and be able to have a Skype experience in the living room. We've had it optimized for that environment. "

It doesn't end there... look for Skype to be added to other devices like Internet connected digital photo frames as well. You can find us with archives, interviews...and this week a chance to win a copy of Corel's X3 photo and video bundle...at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
