GoogleTV and Logitech Coming to Family Room

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, June 1, 2010

A PC next to the big screen TV? Maybe Google will make it happen. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Microsoft and Intel for years have tried to push the idea that computers have a place in the family room....hooked up to that big screen. Game consoles have turned into entertainment centers. But GoogleTV aims to expand the concept when it hits the market later this year. Logitech will be making a companion box which amounts to a little computer. And Digital Home Group Senior VP Ashish Arora says...

"What GoogleTV is going to be about is bringing all the Web content and all the broadcast content together in one place so that consumers can quickly discover, access, and control this from one simplified interface with one simple device."

Google would leverage its Android operating system and marketplace. Logitech will use its Harmony remote control technology...even creating apps that will bring that control to smartphones. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
