Games, Games and More Games

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, December 15, 1999

Games, games and more games. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bootcamp, a report on computers and technology. Here we go...crunch time...you've still got shopping to do....and if you're shopping for video and computer games...the choices will make your head spin. The newest hot video game machine...is the Sega Dreamcast. NFL2K is the most realilstic looking video football game yet. For fishermen stuck inside over the winter, Sega's fishing controller lets you feel when you get a bite on screen. The new Sega machine presents a dilemma for game players...says Tasos Kaiafas ...of the new gaming magazine called Incite....

"Right now, the new Dreamcast is selling well because it's the first one out the door, but I think a lot of people are going to be waiting around to get into the new PlayStation II next year."

It can be very confusing for parents not to mention...expensive. But says Kaiafas...

"They aren't cheap, you're right. But I think the big difference is you get a lot of playing time out of one game. Where if you buy a movie for say twenty dollars or fifteen dollars ...after two hours it's over...where a game might go fifty or sixty hours long. So you're going to be playing it for a few months, not just after a couple hours put it on the shelf and never see it again.

If, that is, you avoid the mistakes. You can check out a list of some of our favorites and some links to others by visiting us on the web at bootcamp.com.
