Get Ready to Tackle Madden NFL 11

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, August 10, 2010

It's that time of year again. EA Sports is out with Madden NFL 11. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Among the new platforms for the Madden video game franchise... is the Apple iPad. Jeremy Gross, a producer with EA's mobile division, says the bigger screen makes it more like playing on a console, but...

"The reason why we're a mobile division is it's really about bringing the two together. So obviously it's a Madden game, it's all about authenticity. Real teams, real players, it's football. But we take into account the mobile sensibility. For instance, any time you exit the game for any reason, it saves after every play. So you got a phone call, you've got to do something else, we put all that in there. And as far as the game play goes, ultimately all of those same kinds of decisions are there. It's really about designing the control scheme for these platforms in ways that make sense."

For Madden fans...the iPad version is another way to take the game along. And for fans on the consoles, another season begins. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
