Lego Universe: Online Game for the Whole Family

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, September 30, 2010

An online game....for the whole family. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Massively multiplayer online games...or MMOs.... Typically aren't thought of as family activities. World of Warcraft, StarCraft and similar games can become all consuming. But the upcoming Lego Universe can get the whole family involved in building worlds and characters out of virtual Legos. Ryan Seabury is with NetDevil, the company that's been working for almost five years on the game for the Lego brand....

"When Lego came to us originally and was looking for a developer partner, they were looking for sort of a new way to express the creative play idea in an online world. And that's what we've been working on basically for the last five years, is a way to sort of combine a meaningful game experience and take the creative play as well and put the two together. So you kind of have heroic creativity."

Lego Universe is designed for ages 8 and up. Younger kids may need some help from parents, if they aren't too busy playing it on their own. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
