The Age of Video Conferencing From Anywhere

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, October 20, 2010

The age of video conferencing from anywhere. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. As mobile networks have gotten faster and smartphones have gotten better....video conferencing from handsets has arrived. Apple has built FaceTime into the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4.....but you need to be on WiFi for it to work. Sprint uses an app called Qik to enable video conferencing on some Android phones with dual cameras. But an app called Tango...aims to bridge the platform gap. Co-founder and chief technology officer Eric Setton...

"We're launching a free video calling service that is available for iPhone and Android and works over 3G and WiFi. We see this mobile video calling service as really a way to transform the way people communicate."

It's catching on fast. In its first ten days...a million users downloaded Tango. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
