More Digital Storage for the Road: Seagate 1.5 TB GoFlex Ultra Portable

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, October 27, 2010

More digital storage for the road. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. If you use a notebook as your primary PC, it's easy to run low on storage space for digital photos, videos, music and the like. Fortunately external hard drives that simply plug into a USB port, have been growing in capacity. Seagate is now out with a 1 and a half terabyte GoFlex Ultra Portable drive. Product manager Greg Falgiano...

"It's a huge drive. You can hold about sixty HD movies with this, or about 750 video games. Of course, thousands of photos and countless hours of digital music. We're also bundling this drive with USB 3.0. So it's about three times faster in transferring your files than USB 2.0. Yet USB 3.0 is actually backwards compatible with USB 2.0."

The speed and capacity do add a bit to the price. The list is about 250 dollars. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
