Managing all those network connections: Linksys

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, December 30, 2010

Managing all of those home network connections.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     Home networks are doing a lot more than just connected PCs to the Internet these days.    They’re used by WiFi enabled smartphones,  Internet connected TVs and set top boxes, game consoles,  voice over IP phone calls….and more.    The latest E-series wireless routers from Cisco’s Linksys division are designed to help manage and prioritize…and in the case of kids…sometimes limit all of that traffic.    Communications director Karen Sohl says the software included makes setup easy…

Cisco Connect is our new software that comes with the routers and it comes on a CD.  And it actually sets up your wireless router and your computers for you.    It also comes with different features such as guest access,  which sets up a wireless network in your home specifically for guest users.”

A cool and often much needed addition.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
