PlayOn adds Android app to bring Netflix, Hulu etc. mobile

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, March 3, 2011

A mobile app that connects you to Hulu, Netflix and more.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     MediaMall is out with an Android version of the PlayOn app, that had already been a hit on the iPhone.   It works on phones with Android 2.2 or above allowing you to watch TV shows and movies, view your photos or listen to your digital music from anywhere.  CEO Jeff Lawrence says ….

“You go to our Web site, which is www.playon.tv.  You download a very simple software application, it’s free to try for 14 days.  And once that’s installed in your PC, you go to your Android phone and you install the Android app on there.   And it will discover the PC in your home and connect to it.   And once that’s initially connected, you can then also connect to it while you’re away from home.”

Your PC has to be running for the access.  The service, after the free trial, is priced at 40 dollars for the first year and 20 dollars a year after that.    Again the site is Playon.TV.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
