Worried about your kids & Facebook? Zone Alarm Social Guard.

Boot Camp feature for Monday, May 9, 2011

Worried about your kids and Facebook?      I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    With online predators and such, parents have plenty of concerns about what their kids are doing on the Internet.   But when it comes to social apps like Facebook, many kids object to parents being one of their “friends”.   That’s where new  monitoring software from Zone Alarm called Social Guard comes in.   Consumer business head Bari Abdul…

The parent downloads the software and when the software is there all they do is ask the child to put in the password.  They never have to see the kid’s log in or password to Facebook.  We start scanning the account.  And on various items such as strangers or cyber-bullying or a hacked account,  we scan the account and say here’s where the issues are, if any.”

Zone Alarm says it strikes a balance between safety and privacy.   Social Guard costs under two dollars a month.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
