Solar technology in the garden. RainPerfect.

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Solar technology in the garden.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Solar energy can be found in a lot of places these days.   And now, a small solar panel in the yard, can help water your garden.   ITT is out with a solar powered rain barrel pump called RainPerfect.   ITT Innovation Lab marketing and communications manager Gina Arnone…

It is a solar powered rain barrel pump system.  And what that does is it pressurizes the water in your rain barrel so that you can run it through a hose with your standard hose fittings and water your lawn or your garden just as you would as if you were hooked up to the side of your house on city water.”

The system is simple to install on almost any rain barrel and uses batteries that are charged up through the solar panel.   It’s a green way to keep things green.   You can find it for under 140 dollars.  There’s more info at RainPerfectPump.com.   You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
