Connecting to your PC files from iPhones, iPads, Androids

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, August 3, 2011

Connecting to your PC files from your iPhone, iPad or Android devices.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      Storing your files in the cloud….in other words…on servers belonging to a service owned by Apple, Amazon, Google or maybe Microsoft….is one way to be able to access them from anywhere.   But new software,  free for consumers, called Polkast….lets you create your own cloud…keeping the files on your own PC…and gives you access to them from iPhones, iPads or Android devices.    CEO Hong Bui…

So you just install the app on your PC and then select what folders you want to make accessible for your devices.  And then immediately afterwards, you can download the app onto your Android or your iPad or your iPhone.”

The one downside is your PC has to remain on.   A version for Mac computers is in the works.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
