Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, November 16, 2011

HTC’s Rezound puts the focus on sound.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      For many people,  smartphones have become their music device of choice.   The phones are with you all the time and most have plenty of room to store MP3s.   The iPhone has led the way.   HTC, which has invested in headphone maker Beats by Dr. Dre,  is looking to attract music lovers with the new Rezound Android phone, being carried by Verizon Wireless.   Beats chairman and recording industry veteran Jimmy Iovine says his goal is improve the sound of digital music…

“You make a computer and you put fifty cents worth of hardware into the sound quality.  You’ve got a problem.  It takes the feeling out of the music.  So Dre and I sepnt a lot of time tuning this stuff.   We took two years to make our first headphone.”

The Rezound’s music capabilities have been tuned and the phone…selling for about 300 dollars…includes specially designed Beats headphones.    You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
