New camera from Polaroid like a trip back in time

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, November 30, 2011

A new camera from Polaroid is like a trip back in time.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    It is designed to look… well, designed to look like a vintage Polaroid camera.  But the Z340 is made to live in the digital age.  Yes, it can spit out instant prints, but it also has an LCD screen and an SD memory card slot.   Polaroid chief technology officer Jon Pollock…

“So you take and you print only the pictures that you like.  And the other really cool thing is that you can actually add different borders to your prints right before you print them.”

The camera uses Zink paper packs,  priced at about twenty dollars for 30 prints.  It has a surprisingly solid feel and shoots at 14 megapixels.    The zoom is limited to digital only and using the printer will exhaust the battery fairly quickly.  The good news is the Z340, priced at about three hundred dollars, brings back that old time Polaroid instant print fun.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin
