Too much to drink? There’s an app for that. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. An app called BreathalEyes from Xplor Corps is labeled in a disclaimer as being for entertainment, but it can at least serve as a help if you’re trying to convince someone that he or she shouldn’t get behind the wheel. Creative director Clay Bradley says the app uses the camera in an iPhone 4 or 4S…
“BreathalEyes tries to capture the same field sobriety test police use in what they call the pen test where the subject follows the officer’s pen with their eyes and the police officers are looking for what’s called horizontal gaze nystagnus, which is the fancy word for the jerking motion or an intoxicated person’s eye. ”
The app, spelled B r e a t h a l E y e s, costs 99 cents. Again, its designed for the iPhone 4. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
