Skylanders game for kids is going Giant

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, February 22, 2012

One of the biggest new video games for kids…is getting even bigger.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     Activision’s gamble last fall on a video game for kids that combined physical toys with action on screen has paid off.   Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure has captivated kids by letting their imaginations roam whether they are in front of the game screens or not.   This year, the plan is to expand the Skylanders realm in a giant way.   Toys for Bob Studio head and Skylanders creator Paul Reiche says the new Giants game will introduce new Giant characters…

“In addition to the 32 that we had from last year, all of which will work flawlessly with all of their upgrades, all the customizations, all of their names, whatever you’ve done with them in 2011 will work in Giants.  And in Giants, we’re introducing 8 new Giants, twice the size of normal characters.  This is physically a new game.  It will be available with and without the portal, so if you have already got a portal from the previous game, you don’t need to buy a new one.”

There’s more info for kids and parents and a free online game at Skylanders.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
