What's to love about Sony's PS Vita?

Boot Camp feature for Monday, March 19, 2012

What’s to love about Sony’s PS Vita?    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    It’s seems more like a console game machine with a stunning built in OLED screen that happens to fit in a jacket pocket…than a handheld gaming device.  Sony’s PS Vita packs in a lot of bells and whistles …like cameras, apps a touch control back and even optional 3G connectivity and that’s on top of amazing game play.    Once again, there appears to be a major strategy difference between Sony and its main rival in the handheld gaming business, Nintendo.   Sony’s senior director of handheld and mobile platforms John Koller…

“You know Nintendo, traditionally has gone after an under twelve consumer and has had success there.  I think the 3DS is really aimed for that in many ways.  But the PlayStation Vita is really aimed a different type of consumer.  It’s really aimed, this first year to year and a half, at a console consumer.  Someone that we know very well, someone that’s a PlayStation 3 owner primarily.”

The PS Vita sells for about 250 dollars.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
