Web Sites For Cats?

Boot Camp feature for Friday, January 15, 1999

Have you ever noticed the attraction between cats and computers? I'm Fred Fishkin with Bootcamp, a report on computers and technology. So what is it with cats and computers. Mary Shomon and her husband Jon Mathis noticed the phenomenon...

"We kept noticing that our cats were sitting around on the computer a lot. And we decided that there must be some kind of linkage between cats and computers."

And the next thing Shomon and Mathis knew, they were writing a book called Scratching the Net, Web Sites for Cats...

"In Scratching the Net, Yahoo becomes YaMew, the search engine for cats and the Netscape browser becomes Netscatch. And some of my personal favorites are the ones that really take on some of the big media celebrities have a lot of web sites. We have the morality maven, Dr. Laura Pussinger giving morality advice and telling people to go scratch on the sofa instead of taking on the day. We also have Opurruh instead of the classic talk show host that everyone knows about."

And of course, there are the political sites for cats...

"So both the Democatic and Replicat parties have their own web sites and Ross Purroh has his own web site.

Not to mention the Socks the Cat web site. The book, which even humans with cats and computers will enjoy, sells for 9.95. You can find more information at scratching-the-net.com. There's a hyphen between the words.
