More merging of toys with apps

More merging of toys with apps.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Toy makers have taken notice of how much time kids spend playing games on iPhones, iPads and other mobile gadgets.   And they’ve been busy creating toys that can be used along with apps.  At Spin Master, the AppFinity line is being expanded to  work with Android devices.  Spin Master’s Stephanie Kerr…

“I think it’s a huge new trend that everyone’s really excited about.  It’s a great new way to marry toys and technology together.”

At WowWee, they call their line of converged toys AppGear.   WowWee’s Scott Goldberg says the expectation is FoamFighters will be flying high…

“And the idea is you get a pack with two planes.” So these are physical airplanes and you attach this to an iOS device? “Or Android.  You scan it in so it knows which plane you’re flying, which opens up different missions.”

And parents will cross their fingers that there are no crashes.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
