Back Up, Sync without the cloud. Latest from GoodSync.

Boot Camp feature for Friday, June 8, 2012

Avoiding the crowd in the cloud.   The latest from GoodSync.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Backing up your files using cloud based services from Google,  Amazon, Microsoft or any of the many others, has some advantages.   Having back-ups in another location in the event of a fire or natural disaster is one.   But it can be costly if your needs are beyond what’s offered for free.   Siber Systems takes a different approach with GoodSync 9.  Marketing VP Bill Carey…says the idea is to avoid the cloud with direct connections…

“Like you can connect your work computer to your home computer and never have to store your files online or never have to go through the cloud.  We connect those computers directly in a peer to peer type environment and allow you to keep those computers in sync now without using those online services.”

It’s fast and the files are available from mobile devices too.   GoodSync offers a free version for minimal needs.   The full version is priced at under thirty dollars.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
