90 year old toy company heads into digital age. Pressman's iPieces.

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, July 24, 2012

A 90 year old toy company takes it games into the digital age.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Pressman toys has been in the business of making games like checkers and Chinese checkers and the list goes on and on.   James Pressman, who heads the company started by his father in 1922, is now taking some of those traditional games…and making them work on iPads …..

“It’s an incredible merger between traditional game pieces that you buy at retail and an iPad, where we make available for you at the iTunes store that you download for free, then the iPad actually becomes your playing board with the physical pieces.   So it’s a marriage of games like a fishing game and air hockey, with all the attributes that you had in your physical game, now on your iPad.  It’s called iPieces.  There’s four games in total.  They’re going to be available in early August.”

The price, about 12.99, and we can tell you air hockey on an iPad is fun.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
