OoVoo ups the ante again for video calling apps

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, September 4, 2012

When it comes to video calling, OoVoo has upped the ante again.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    The free video calling app OoVoo  now lets Apple device and Android users view up to four video streams at a time while a dozen in total can be on any one call.  President Jay Samit says the company’s 54 million users will be having more fun than ever..

We’re actually adding a hundred thousand users a day.  And what they’re doing with it, it’s not like a phone conversation, it is something that they live with so that they never have to miss out on sharing life’s experiences.  People watch TV together, people go shopping together, people just listen to music together.  Our average user is doing 200 minutes a month of OoVoo.”

It’s wise to keep an eye on data use when you aren’t on WiFi, but the multiple video streams, because of the way OoVoo works, don’t use more data than a single stream.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
