Here come those next generation big screen TVs. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. I know, I know. You just bought the 50 inch 1080p 3D TV a year ago for the family room. What do you mean there’s something better? Don’t blame me, blame the industry. Sony has unveiled the 84XBR X900, a very big TV with a very big price. But, Sony Electronics President Phil Molyneux points out…
“It’s an 84 inch 4K TV, that’s four times the resolution of full HD. And we have cinematic sound in combination with what is an unbelievable, breathtaking picture. So a combination of the audio and breathtaking picture really is an immersive picture. It makes you feel like you could fall into the movie.”
The problem is…as was true in the early days of HD and is still true with 3D, there just isn’t much 4K content to watch at home if you take out a second mortgage to buy one. But that will change over time. So far, Sony has been selling 4K cameras and projectors primarily to the movie industry. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
