Online Storage Space... For Free

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, March 9, 2000

Increase your computer storage space... for free. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bootcamp, a report on computers and technology. There are more and more Web sites out there offering free storage space online. One of them isidrive.com. CEO Jeff Bonforte... .calls it your personal space on the Web... allowing you to store your word processing, digital photos or files of all kinds... in a drive you can access from anywhere in the world. You can even choose to share the files.

"And then the more exciting side is I-drive is really a Web collection tool. So, what that means is, you can go to any Web page... it doesn't matter if the page is dynamically generated like an e-commerce receipt or a travel reservation or stock trade confirmation, you can send that page right to your I-drive. And you can collect music, you can collect files, you can collect games right off the Web. So as you're moving from site to site on the Internet, you can actually collect really important or relevant content and put it right into your I-drive to make sure you always have a copy. So it doesn't matter if they get rid of that story on that Web site, you always have it... or you always have your collection of music or your collection of games or whatever."

You download a free tool called Filo and it installs in your browser. After that whatever site you're on... with two mouse clicks... you can save the page to your I-drive.
