Ooma makes its phone system even better

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Ooma makes its voice over IP phone system even better.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    For people looking to save money on phone costs, Ooma has been the Internet phone system of choice.   Buy the equipment and phone bills, except for taxes and fees, disappear.  Now Ooma has a new and improved cordless handset on the market, the HD 2.  The features?  VP Dennis Peng…

“It’s a new cordless phone that works with the Ooma Telo.  And it has a beautiful 2 inch color screen that allows you to see the pictures of callers when they call you.  So you can sync your address book from Facebook, Google contacts, Yahoo address book and LinkedIn.”

On the downside, the new HD 2 handsets are not interoperable with the company’s previous HD phones.   Ooma is also out with a new device called Linx for plugging in any kind of phone or fax machine.  There’s more info at Ooma.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
