Slipping a little tripod in your shirt pocket

Boot Camp feature for Monday, November 12, 2012

Slipping a little tripod in your shirt pocket.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     Joby has been known for creating some very versatile wrap around tripods under its GorillaPod brand.   Now it has gone small.   In fact, tiny, with the GripTight Micro stand designed for smartphones.   All kinds of smartphones.  David Yao is the engineer behind it….

“It’s really, really small.  Compacts very well.  It’s a stand that can unfold and grip any smartphone, including up to a 72millimeter sized device.  So that covers like 90 percent of Android devices, with a case even.    And of course it will fit an iPhone.”

Unfold the legs and you have a table top tripod for your smartphone that you can use to get into the pictures yourself, for framing that perfect shot or simply as a stand.   The Joby GripTight Micro sells for about thirty dollars.     You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
