What's next for the cool little Dropcam?

What’s next for the cool, little Dropcam?   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Dropcam is the maker of one of the smallest, most stylish and easiest to use Internet cameras on the market and it is adding some new capabilities.   Owners today can view their cameras live from smartphones or computers and can even talk back through them to children or pets.  That is free and subscriptions are available that let you record when there is movement detected and save the video to the cloud.   So what’s next?   CEO Greg Duffy…

“So, for example, geo-fencing will allow Dropcam to react to your location and actually turn alerts on and off based on whether you are home or not.  That way you don’t get annoyed when it’s you at home but you do get annoyed if somebody’s home when you’re not. “ If I’m home, it’s not going to be sending alerts, but it knows if I leave?  “That’s right.  So Dropcam knows when you leave your home so that way it can alert you if somebody comes in.”

All using a kind of face recognition.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
