Let your smartphone tell you if you've had too much to drink.

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, April 3, 2013

Let your smartphone tell you if you’ve had too much to drink.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Not sure if you or a friend has had one too many?   A company called Breathometer has started taking pre-orders on Indiegogo for a little device that plugs into an iPhone or Android phone that can tell you who should avoid getting behind the wheel.   Founder and CEO Charles Yim….

“So basically what it does is, once you plug the device into your smartphone, it basically launches the app itself.  You can go ahead and just blow into the device and it will do what is basically a BAC, blood alcohol concentration level.  In all states the legal limit is essentially point zero eight.  So you can use it as a reference point to decide whether or not you’re impaired to drive.”

The price of the Breathometer on Indiegogo is just 20 dollars.   Shipping will begin this summer.    There’s more info at Breathometer.com.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
